i suffered from the exact same thing just 3 weeks ago. you'll need antibiotics from the doctors immediately coz trust me...it doesn't get better...i tried home therapy and suffered for 2 weeks, before it finally cleared...and yes it does sound like strep throat...don't expect any lozenges like "Halls" or "Strepsils" to cure it.

IT sounds like a cold or the flu. Rest, and use throat lozenges and throat spray to numb your throat, then you will be able to sleep better. I would go to the Doctor Just to be on the safe side. I hope you feel better!!!!!!!!!!!!

you should really see a doctor so they can take a sample. but if you want some fast answers, go to webmd and check it out...just be careful not to actually self-diagnose. it's just a website and you are not a doctor, but it should help give you an idea what's going on.

Go see a doctor and get help before it gets worse. If a doctor prescribes medicine to you than maybe you might feel better in time for midterms.
~I really hope you feel better:)

gargle with some warm salt water- warm some water on the stove put some salt in it and stir, gargle a few times. natural sea salt would be better and purified water, also try going to the health food store, they will find you a natural cure.

Last time I had strep, I went to a day clinic (doc-in-the-box) and they gave me a shot of peniccillin. I swear that by the time I drove the 20 miles back to my house, I could feel the antibiotic working on the infection.
Next day, I wasn't "cured" but I was enough better to go back to work.

Common symptoms of strep throat in children and adults include:
Severe and sudden sore throat without coughing, sneezing, or other cold symptoms.
Pain or difficulty with swallowing.
Fever over 101 F; lower fevers may indicate a viral infection and not strep.
Swollen lymph nodes in the neck.
White or yellow spots or coating on the throat and tonsils.
Bright red throat or dark red spots on the roof of the mouth at the back near the throat.
Swollen tonsils, although this symptom may also be caused by a viral infection.
In teenagers, mononucleosis can cause a severe sore throat that looks like and has symptoms similar to those of strep throat.
For more information, see the topic Infectious Mononucleosis.
It is easy to tell when you have a sore throat or a cold. It is harder to know when you have strep throat. Generally, sore throats are caused by a viral infection and not strep bacteria. Strep throat usually does not occur with cold symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, or a runny or stuffy nose. The more cold symptoms you have, the less likely it is that your sore throat is a strep infection.
In some cases of strep infection, a skin rash develops and spreads over the neck and chest and eventually over the whole body. The rash feels rough like sandpaper. This condition is called scarlet fever. Scarlet fever is treated with antibiotics, which usually lead to a quick recovery. Scarlet fever is not dangerous if treated.

You have a bacterial (Well maybe viral) infection in the throat, maybe some phlegm. GO to the Doctor, this is the best think that ou can do. If you like you can make a remedy with salt or bicarbonate in hot watter, use gargles, don´t drink it. This will kill the germs in the throat, because you will change the pH of the zone to saline. The bacterials don´t grow good in saline pH, and the mushrooms in acid pH.
This remedy is efective but only kill the germs in the throat, you must do something with the germs in your lungs.
Other think, if you feel headche, is a signal that you have few sugar in the blood, you must eat good, specially if you have a disease, if can´t eat good solid aliment, try with liquid aliment, but eat a lot. If you don´t eat the infection will spread in all your body very easy, this is part of its strategy..
About the nouse, have many napkinds or something for clean, eat or drink hot meals and tea, and rest.

Typically strep is accompanied by white streaks in your throat. Your sore throat may be due to coughing as well. There is a nasty cold/virus going around right now (as a matter of fact, I have it too).
If it is so severe that you are not able to swallow your own saliva though (due to swelling), you may have a peritonsilar abcess. Get it checked asap!! A shot of Rocefin and some Augmenten anitbiotics will knock it out of you!

It sounds like its a viral thing. Drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest. A salt water gargle will help a lot or one of those OTC sore throat stuff. On the other hand, if you were exposed to someone with strep throat, or when you look at your throat you see white spots or pus, you should get to your doc for antibiotics.
