I'd sure like to go on the moon ! Maybe the cure is inside the moonrocks !!!

Now we know why we are short of money... That and the war in Iraq. |

Cancer is a worldwide epidemic. It affects everyone in some way; whether it be directly or indirectly.
Wouldn't it be AWESOME to find that CURE!!!! |

Cure for cancer without a doubt! Think of all the people they could save. |

I would rather find a cure for cancer. It's the right (moral?) choice. We could re-visit the moon later! |

who says the 1 billion lira would find the cure for cancer......space exploration is a waste of time and money all together.......who cares what happened on other planets?...we can't even run our right..... |

good question! answer would be to find a cure for cancer instead of creating a bigger hole in our atmosphere! |

Cure for cancer because they will never walk on that moon. |
|

Jess...

no way.. i think they should spend it on research into cancer.. without a doubt x |

I would rather for the money too go toward a cure for all disease not just cancer , but that's politics for you. I don't care what anyone says you keep living and keep yourself on top of political affairs , it all about the have, and haves not just keep voting than you can complain at least that makes me feel somewhat good. peace out. |

You're not serious? A cure for cancer, though I believe in space exploration we should do a lot of things with the money that they spend on this endeavor. Like pay off our debt just to name 1 and when we have extra money then yea play around in space. |

You are assuming they are using funds only for space exploration and not for cancer cures. This is a wrong assumption. Even if they cut out space exploration and applied the funds to curing cancer, it doesn't increase the chance for a discovery. The funds are available for cancer research. It's just not as easy as people think it is to discover a cure. |

anyone who would choose moon over a cure for cancer has no clue about the realities of cancer. cancer kills , the moon does not....... |

walking on the moon does nothing for mankind. it's a huge waste of money. i would much rather have a cure for cancer. |
|

hello

Now you know if you put this question on the cancer site....that everyone is going to answer cancer...without a doubt. |

Cure cancer for sure. What kind of idiot would choose putting men on the moon again over curing cancer? Nobody Dude! |

i don't see how the two are mutually exclusive.
do you think it's the astronauts that are going to cure cancer if they weren't busy walking on the moon? that there isn't enough money in cancer research?
your logic is faulty. if it were just a matter of money then cancer would already be gone (or even being used for, let's say, alternative breast enlargement). |

we can be pretty sure they will succeed in the moon quest throwing money at disease is always an iffy thing ( and the cancer cure may very well come from research performed in the low gravity lab that space investments will create ) |

Who quoted the figure 1 billion to cure cancer? |

There will be 1,444,920 new cases of cancer this year, in 2007. 559,650 people will die from cancer this year. This includes all forms of cancer such as brain/nervous system, breast, colon and rectum, lukemia, liver, lung and bronchitis, non hodgekin lymphoma, ovary, pancreas, and prostate cancer.
I would rather save 1.4 million lives than putting someone on the moon again. Let another country take credit for the moon walk. I think coming up with a cure for cancer is much more important because you aren't just saving the people who have cancer now but you are also saving the people that will have cancer in the future.
Site for statistics is below. |

CURE FOR CANCER!!! Who the heck cares about the moon, what is it going to do for us? Millions of lives could be saved it that money was spent on something useful. |

There's no guarantee that more money = cancer cure. |

I have had leukemia since age five. I lost my twin sister and many friends, as well as my own childhood, to this terrible disease. Space research is so ridiculous if you've seen and been through the horrible things cancer causes. |

Cure for cancer.
but if the billion pounds are coming from donors there's nothing much we can say. All those billionaires who use their money to buy yachts and planes, the money they spent might have done better for research such as cancer but who are we to say they're improperly using their money. |
